When one door closes...

Hey, Bloggity-Blogworld,

As many of you probably heard via Facebook (which I'm getting sick of, btw, but I'll still be on there since it's the primary form of communication for so many people--myself included), I lost my job.

I basically got laid off. I was let go due to "budget reasons," so that's not exactly the same as getting fired, right?

I'm a little bummed because I was just getting into my groove there. I'd just gotten to the point that I understood what was going on and not having to ask questions every 10 minutes. But here's the way I see it. Four months ago, when I started, I didn't know how to work a fax machine. Now, I've learned SO much that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. It was basically a post-college, paid internship. As a friend of mine told me, "You should've paid them for the experience," and she's right! I got to see the entire publication process from start to finish, and I would never have gotten that standing behind a register. So I'm really grateful that I had the opportunity, however short, to get my feet wet in an office and as a proofreader.

I also met some really great people, and I will miss them (it's only Wednesday--I found out Monday--and I miss them a lot!), but I'm glad I got the chance to get to know them, too.

So, now what?

If you've known me a while, you know that for all my anxiety and panicking, I tend to be very fatalistic with the big things. I absolutely believe that everything happens for a reason, and this door closed because another one ("A better one." "That one!" "That one??...Aye, that one!") is about to open. So I'm just hanging in there, sending out those resumes and hoping for the best. The Big Guy Upstairs has always seemed to know what He's doing, so I've got a good feeling that He didn't just stop being omniscient overnight.

So now I have a few things I've wanted to blog about and either didn't get the chance or didn't have time or didn't feel comfortable doing while under someone else's thumb. Hopefully I'll get some of those out this week/weekend!

  1. So sorry to hear this! I agree and can't wait to see what adventures you will have next. Also, as always, points for the Pirates reference...

  2. Glad you were able to get so much out of your job, still sucks that you no longer are there :(
But like you said, God didn't go and take a cat nap on you, so keep up the faith and see what he has in store for you!
