This Betsey Johnson parrot necklace is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Plato's purchases. I had seen it at Dillard's when it came out and LOVED it, but it was $50 and I wasn't going to spend that much on it. So when it came into the store, BINGO! I love it for summer. It reminds me of Jimmy Buffet and pirates! Avg. retail price: $50 Plato's Price: $18
I love owls. And I loved this rainbow owl necklace when I saw it. Avg. retail price: approximately $20 Plato's Price: $5
This is so hipster, I can't even...
No, but seriously, I like this deer ring. It's cool. And I like it because it doesn't absolutely overwhelm my hand, which is a plus. Avg. retail price: approximately $15-$30 Plato's Price: $4
And lastly, another gorgeous piece of Betsey Johnson jewelry. Plato's is feeding my addiction (and building my collection)! Every time I wear this, I get compliments, regardless of the low quality photography you see here. Avg. retail price: $40 Plato's Price: $15
Come stop by sometime! We get in new stuff every day so it's a new store each time you come in. Except for me. I'm always there. I'm kind of a permanent fixture at this point.
Also, I thought I'd link you all to my Twitter so that you can start following me as I prepare for my trip to VA. I am SO nervous/excited! And I'm thinking of all kinds of stupid things, like, what bag should I use as my carry-on/purse? Which foundation should I bring? What happens if they lose my luggage? Is it cold inside of airplanes? I have a window seat, what if I need to pee???
It's gonna be a trip. In every sense of the word.

I'm back from Wedding No.2! It was BEAUTIFUL. It took place in Georgia at a plantation, and my Mom and I stayed in a town just outside the area called Thomasville.
I will admit: we came into Thomasville through the back way, and it was sketchy as HELL. Like, probably makes the top 3 of sketchiest places I've ever been. I was like:
It was just NOT a place that two white females who are admittedly lost probably want to be. Alone. So we freaked out, but we finally got back on the main road and everything was fine and normal again. Our hotel was nice and everything, but we had a great time exploring the historic downtown.
It's cool, because the people who live there are passionate about preserving their town's history--and rightly so! I think more small towns need to remember their roots and keep a local economy as opposed to falling prey to the major chains. But that's a rant for another day. :)
My personal favorite place was this incredibly neat little shop called Firefly. I don't know who's in charge of their merchandising, but they should get a prize. Love the Mason jar lamps!
This awesome "M" crest was on some stationery. I didn't buy it because it was pricey and I don't write as many letters as I used to, but it was such a cool design!
They had some awesome toys too, and this fox mask was one of my favs.
These were my purchases: A handmade deer plushie/keychain (I named it Rosebud), an owl bookmark, and this AWESOME little purse with a Union Jack on it. You open it up and inside is cherry lip balm! WINNING! And get the name: "purse your lips." SO CLEVER, RIGHT??
The town had some other fascinating shops with lots of cool, kitschy wares.
These were inside one of the antique shops (of which there were many). It looks like a film set! I want to live in BOTH of these rooms!
And then, of course, there was the venue, Pebble Hill Plantation. SO GORGEOUS. I wasn't even aware that places this pretty existed in the USA. I would absolutely LOVE to go back for a proper visit...unfortunately, we didn't have time over this weekend to actually take a legitimate tour. But I'd love to go back! The house had (multiple) stables and a FAMILY CEMETERY. I'm not sure how one goes about obtaining a familial crypt, but I TOTALLY intend to do so.
And of course, the wedding. Which was so lovely--a fairytale day and I can't think of a couple who deserves it more. The actual ceremony took place under this ancient oak tree.
Congratulations, Jon and Elizabeth! I wish you the absolute best of everything in your future together. :)
And now, we'll finish with some gratuitous pictures of the blogger. ;)
Also, a song/music video. I read about this band in Nylon, and couldn't BELIEVE they were from Sweden! A lot of the shops in Thomasville also played their album, so I thought this was an appropriate time to share. :)
Mom and I leave tomorrow for Georgia for my friend Elizabeth's wedding. I'm so looking forward to the entire thing: first of all, I recall quite well how anxious she was waiting for her then-boyfriend to "pop the question," and here they are now getting married. I'm so grateful that I've been able to share this journey with her and that I'm getting to see the culmination this weekend! Secondly, the thing takes place far away, which means I HAVE AN EXCUSE TO STAY IN A HOTEL FOR A COUPLE NIGHTS! I am so blissfully excited. I've had major vacation envy--I swear, if I heard one more person come into the store and be like, "I need new stuff because I'm going on vacation/cruise/Spring Break" I was going to explode into a Hulk-like fury. So I'm extremely grateful to get to do this, especially with my Mom. She desperately needs a break, too, so I'm looking forward (very much) to just getting away. Even if it is only Friday-Sunday. I fully intend to eat poorly, sit outside by the hotel pool (if they have one), and read trashy magazines. It'll be BRILLIANT.
So now I'm just trying to pack, even though we're leaving in the morning. Meh.
;) Stay tuned to hear how I do with "The Big One," being the third and final wedding in Richmond, VA, this April.
Since I won't be here for St. Pat's this year, I'll leave with you this gem:

Just thought I'd bullet out a few things.
-Mom and I are going to Vero Beach tomorrow for like 2-3 days. I'm pretty excited...haven't really gone anywhere else all summer. So this will be nice. Also, girl time. Which inevitably means SHOPPING. Also, there's a PIRATE TREASURE museum. Whee!

-The other day my dad was talking about rappers, and he goes, "Well, there's only ONE real white rapper." My mind automatically goes:
He says, "M&M? What is that? I'm talking about Vanilla Ice!"
Omg, my parents.

-I was at Target yesterday looking at school supplies (not like I need erasers or markers, but I have fun looking anyway. Also, to the brand that makes pocket folders with every breed of puppy on them except for pugs? WAIT UNTIL MY FATHER HEARS ABOUT THIS.). So while I didn't get any school supplies, I had a rather fortuitous moment out in the parking lot. I FOUND a pair of Betsey Johnson sunglasses! They were alone. And ownerless. So I kept them. Does that make me a horrible person? They were in the PARKING LOT. I'd like to think this is karma working in my favor for all the times I've lost stuff. I secretly hope they belonged to the bitch who stole my wallet like 7 years ago (I WILL NEVER FORGET).
They're super cute. WINNING.

-This is such a quality movie. Even the opening credits are awesome. Even though I had a friend in elementary school who told me I'd to to hell for watching it because Angela Lansbury plays a witch. Whatevs.

-I've started my reading for the Archaeology of Caribbean Pirates class. I am SO excited for this class! Unfortunately, the text I started with is Archaeology of the Caribbean. Luckily, I have an interest in archaeology and ancient civilization. That being said, it's pretty boring. I only care so much for hypotheses formed from trash heaps found in Jamaica about people who lived there 8000 years ago. Like, you really deduced that these people had complex burial rituals and ate extinct giant sloths FROM A SHELL you found in a dump??? REALLY?? I want the pirates to come in and pillage the author of this book, like that scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail (don't ask why it's in Spanish...).
I haven't started my Gothic Lit class yet, namely because my books haven't arrived yet. But I'm pretty stoked about that, too. :)))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's all that's new with me as of right now. I'm so excited for school to start that it's pretty sad. I should make a promise to myself to never let my life reach that point of boredom again.
The key word there being "should."
So, my people of the cruise post(s) took a little more space than I had anticipated. And instead of just telling you about the boat (which would get real boring REAL fast), I decided to picspam you and tell you in the captions. Briefly. :)
Right, so the ship was the Celebrity Solstice. We'd never done Celebrity before. Overall, it was really nice. Extremely clean, the service was AMAZING, and the on-board activities trumped our other week-long cruise experience on Holland America. There were pro's and con's about both lines, but I'd recommend both just depending on what you're looking for.
This was me and Michael's room.
The balcony off my parents' room.
Some of the DELICIOUS pastries on the ship. JUST LOOK AT THEM. You don't even know.
This was possibly the best dessert I've ever had. It was like, some cannoli thing. I know what you're thinking...
...just know it was AMAZING. *_~
Mom scoring BIG at the Casino.
I realize that what I'm about to say cements my status as Queen of the Nerdly People, but the ship had this AMAZING library that I was enthralled with. It was HUGE. And tall. Kind of like Belle's in Beauty and the Beast.
This was a really neat lounge on board, ironically enough called Michael's Club. It looked the way I imagine Victorian gentlemen's clubs would look (they didn't have the strippers back then in their gentlemen's clubs, guys. Or if they did, it was ankles all the way.), with guys sitting in their monocles with their pocket watches smoking cigars and playing whist. :)
One of the nightclubs called the Sky Lounge.
OMG NEKKID STATUE.
The reason I love cruising.
So they had this...lawn, upon which people played like, croquet and stuff. It's a big deal. I'm not entirely sure why. I think it's just the novelty of having GRASS in the middle of the ocean.
One of the coolest things on board that they did right across from the lawn was have live glass blowing shows. It was pretty awesome. If you've never gotten the opportunity to see glassware made right in front of you, I highly suggest you take the chance to do so sometime. It's pretty incredible. And the guys were extremely talented. Moreso than I could EVER be.
Also, here's a slight confession: is it terrible that when I look at this pic
...my mind immediately jumps to this?
I am a terrible person. I know.
Overall, the ship was GORGEOUS and there was a lot to do on it which made the three days we spent at sea bearable, and ENJOYABLE. To come: the destinations!
