As you all know, I absolutely adore Joan Jett. She's one of my all-time favorite artists and has that rare ability to drag me up out of crummy moods whenever I hit "play" on one of her songs. Another Woman of Rock I really like is Grace Slick, of Jefferson Airplane. Along with Janis Joplin (both of whom emerged on the San Fransisco psychedelia scene in the late 1960's), she's one of the pioneers of women in rock n roll, thus having paved the way for people like Joan Jett, and is therefore awesome.
Just listen to her hard-ass powerful voice. It's piercing, like it goes right through you.
"Through literacy you can begin to see the universe. Through music you can reach anybody. Between the two there is you, unstoppable."
-Grace Slick
^ Woodstock. =D
^ Anyone who is this close to Darth Vader instantly gains respect. Fact.
And of course, she's responsible for one of the greatest songs ever written. As if all the aforementioned aren't enough reasons to love her:
Hope all of my college readers aren't suffering too heavily from exam-induced stress. Listen to Joan Jett and Grace Slick! Feel better!
