That's all for tonight. I won't be posting tomorrow evening, because I'm taking a 2 day vacation. Should be back on here though for Friday night. Because I know you would die of anguish if I missed too many days. Don't fear, guys. I'LL BE BACK.

I follow Tom Felton on Twitter, and he seems like such a sweet, well-mannered guy...always doing stuff for charity and whatnot.

Then I accidentally come across photos like this

and I feel as though I've walked in on the sordid, fetishistic sex life of a mild acquaintance.

SHUNNN.

Why do you think family mattered more to the Malfoys (or specifically Narcissa) than obeying Voldemort?
I'm not so sure I'd go as far as saying family mattered more to Lucius. I think by the 7th book, Lucius Malfoy has had such a fall from grace that he's a shell of his former imposing self as seen in Chamber of Secrets. Maybe at the very end he was confronted with the reality of everything he'd lost and made the switch wholeheartedly but I tend not to believe that. As far as Narcissa is concerned, she was never a Death Eater. She didn't have the mark or anything--she was just lumped in there by familial association. It's clear throughout the series (especially, to me, in the 6th book) that she loves Draco and wanted better for him than the life she and his father had been sucked into. So for her, I don't feel like her allegiance was ever 100%. She was just the sister of his "first lieutenant" and wife of his right-hand man.

I wish the books had given the Malfoys, or at least Draco, a bit more redemption. Like I said, I'm not sure I buy anything regarding Lucius. But I wish Narcissa and Draco had gotten that moment (like Kreacher's) where they reconcile themselves with the right side. We get the odd head-nod moment at the train station 19 years later, but that was never good enough for me. I feel like Draco's a more complicated character than that and deserved a better ending.

Thoughts?

I'll eat myself if you can find a smarter hat than me.

More here!

One of the coolest things that universally MOST people seem to like about the Harry Potter series is the Sorting into the four Hogwarts Houses. There are a plethora of online Sorting Hat quizzes if you're curious which house you think you might end up in. Although, if you read the books and the stuff about each house, it's possible you could determine yourself.

I also like the stories of the four Founders throughout the books and wanted to share these artists' renderings.

So, naturally:
Which Hogwarts House do you believe you'd be sorted into and why?
The favorite question of Potterphiles everywhere! I've actually given this one more thought than is probably appropriate, but I think I've pretty well determined that of all the houses, I think I'd fit best into Ravenclaw. When it comes down to it, I am an absolute geek. I love school and studying (the idea of graduating is bittersweet...life without school?? But what IS that??). I'd rather get books as presents than almost anything else. And I'd like to think I'm smart/clever. As a friend of mine succinctly pointed out, "But you suck at math!" Well, there's no math at Hogwarts. So there.

I guess second would be a tie between Slytherin and Hufflepuff. Some who know me would say Slytherin, others would say Hufflepuff. I'd rather be in Slytherin. Gryffindor would be last for me, because I don't think I'm brave, popular, or athletic enough to be in Gryffindor.

What about you, guys? Which house would you be in? Which house would you WANT to be in?

It's gonna be TOTALLY AWESOME.

The time has come the Walrus said for you to be introduced to "A Very Potter Musical."

I'm only posting the first part, but you can and should watch the rest on Youtube.

Here's the deal with this. I am in awe of this group's creativity (they wrote it) and talent (they performed it). I like that I knew who Darren Criss was pre-Glee. It is slow and somewhat dull in some parts, but that's the beauty of Youtube. Also, it's catchy. And there's a very hilarious sequel (featuring Umbridge--played by the Voldemort guy--and Lupin). And Draco Malfoy is played by a GIRL. What more can you possibly want out of life??

It's TOTALLY AWESOME.

How do you think Snape stomached/dealt with being able to watch Voldemort kill and torture others? How do you think he evaded being detected by Voldemort? Do you think he enjoyed it in some ways?
It's my thought that Snape had always had somewhat of a rough upbringing. He lived in Spinner's End, which Bellatrix deemed a "muggle pigsty," and, from what I gathered from "The Prince's Tale," his father was, if not abusive, then distant and disapproving. So he'd probably had a rough go of it all along. Then of course he became a Death Eater, and only switched sides in order to protect Lily Potter. So he'd probably seen some things in his time.

As far as escaping Voldemort's notice, I have really no idea. Dumbledore always goes on about how good at Occlumency/Legilimency Snape was, but you'd have to be PRETTY DARN GOOD in order to get past Voldemort. In my humble opinion, it was Snape's love for Lily that kept him safe from Voldemort's probing. Time and time again throughout the series we're shown that Voldemort underestimates and is blindsided by love. And I do believe that Snape loved Lily, and it was the driving motivation behind his every act, including lying to Voldemort.

And as far as him enjoying it, perhaps. I mean, he was so greasy and creepy, can you really picture him ever being happy with a kid on his knee and puppy in the yard? Some people are just drawn to that darker side of life. I believe Snape was one of them.

What are your thoughts on Snape in regards to his service to Voldemort?

Oh, Dumbledore, you wise old thing, you.

I get this one quite a lot, so let's get it out of the way:
What is your favorite book in the Harry Potter series?
Hmm...let's see. From a literary standpoint, you absolutely have to read the entire series almost as one giant 4,000 page epic divided into seven parts. On their own, the books are an amusing read and an endearing story about an orphan who does magic. As a series though, you really get to appreciate all the literary nuances that Rowling planted in there. From page 1 she knew exactly where she was taking the story (which lends to the series' re-readability) and it's fun to pick out all the little clues along the way. So, I guess what I'm saying, is my favorite book, if I had to pick as a literary critic, would probably be the last simply because it's the apotheosis of the entire series.

Individually, I LOVE The Prisoner of Azkaban. I feel it's the last book in which Harry enjoys childhood--Voldemort returns and the entire series shifts in the 4th book. Voldemort is auspiciously absent in Azkaban, and rather, we get a really great backstory to Harry's parents. And Sirius Black. And Lupin. And Snape. It's overall just a really cool story. I love backstory. And I love character development, and this book has a good deal of both. Also this accurate (albeit PROFANE) definition from Urbandictionary.com CLEARLY makes it the best:

And finally, because this happens:

And you? What's your favorite book? If you haven't read the books GTFO, seriously and go read them what's your favorite film? Feel free to elaborate in the comments!

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much.

The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.

The books begin and end with Harry's families, so I thought I'd kick this whole thing off with a nod to the first and last lines.

On that note...
Did you like the Epilogue? Why or why not?
Overall, yes, I did like the Epilogue. I know it's gotten a lot of flack from fans and I'm not entirely sure why. As far as an author wrapping up her tale, I think Rowling did a fine job. It's not up to us who ends up with who (even if we have our own preferences); that's the author's creative right. And I liked the characterization of the second generation (particularly Albus Severus, unfortunate though his name might be). I mean, in general, I wish certain people had lived and others had ended up with different partners, but within the confines of the "canon," I see no reason to dislike it.

I just hope they do it okay in the movie. The pictures that have been leaked lead me to be less than optimistic...

What about you? Epilogue yea or nay?

People might think you're....UP to something.

YAY!

So as you can see, in order to celebrate the final film installment of the Harry Potter series on the 15th of this month, the next 2 weeks will be kind of like Pottermania here in the Sea of Snark.

{It's gonna be TOTALLY AWESOME.}

This mostly means I'll post useless images, gif's, links to websites, maybe even some video clips if I'm feeling really adventurous. Also, I found some interesting thought/opinion questions concerning the last book, and since that's the whole point of this madness, I thought I'd do some of those too.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION/GUEST BLOGGING WELCOME.

My sincerest apologies to my readers who have either a) never read Harry Potter, haven't seen the movies, and are therefore in the dark, or b) hate it. To group A, hopefully this will inspire you to read the books (which are, in my opinion, far superior, but the movies are a quick fix to catch you up on things). To group B, WHY.

I have a sordid fantasy about loads of discussion happening here about these topics. Which mostly means that I'll end up posting every gif file I have and I'll get the same person who clicks "utterly life altering" on my reactions bar at the end of every post doing just that.

NEVER STOP, ANON WHOSE LIFE I AM CHANGING UTTERLY. ;)
